Server | Hilltop Restaurant | Part-Time
Reports to: Hilltop Manager
Hilltop Restaurant is seeking a professional, service-driven Server to deliver elevated dining experiences in a seasonal, luxury restaurant environment. In addition to restaurant service, this role is responsible for executing Cottage Dining (In-Room Dining) orders from start to finish, ensuring a seamless, personalized guest experience.
Servers at Hilltop are expected to provide warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service while anticipating guest needs and upholding Forbes-level hospitality standards across both on-property dining and private cottage settings.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Deliver personalized, attentive service to guests dining at Hilltop Restaurant and within guest cottages.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly, professionally, and graciously.
- Handle guest concerns, special requests, and service recovery with poise and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Food & Beverage Knowledge
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all menus, including seasonal offerings, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Confidently guide guests through food, wine, and cocktail selections, offering thoughtful recommendations and pairings.
- Communicate effectively with culinary and beverage teams to ensure accurate execution of all orders.
Cottage Dining (In-Room Dining) Operations
- Answer cottage dining calls and accurately enter orders into the POS system.
- Coordinate timing with the kitchen to ensure proper pacing, presentation, and food quality.
- Prepare, assemble, and deliver cottage dining orders promptly and professionally to guest cottages.
- Set up in-room dining service according to resort standards, including tray presentation and guest interaction.
- Retrieve trays, serviceware, and equipment in a timely and discreet manner following service.
- Ensure all cottage dining orders meet Forbes service standards and guest expectations.
Operational Responsibilities
- Take and enter restaurant and cottage dining orders accurately, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are properly communicated.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, dining areas, and cottage dining equipment.
- Follow all service timing, presentation, and quality standards.
- Support special events, private dining experiences, and seasonal programming as assigned.
Team Collaboration & Standards
- Work collaboratively with hosts, bartenders, culinary staff, and management to ensure seamless service across outlets.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings, training sessions, and ongoing service education.
- Adhere to all health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service guidelines.
- Uphold Forbes service standards and the luxury brand expectations of the resort at all times.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or in-room dining preferred.
- Strong communication skills with a polished, professional demeanor.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment while managing multiple service channels.
- Knowledge of Napa Valley wines and seasonal cuisine is a plus.
- Team-oriented attitude with a commitment to service excellence.
Schedule & Physical Requirements
- Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during service and deliveries.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including trays, serviceware, and food deliveries.
- Ability to navigate indoor and outdoor spaces, including walking between cottages across the resort property.
