House Car Driver 

Classification: Hourly / Non-Exempt 

Reports To: Front Office Manager / Director of Front Office 

Position Summary 

At Carneros Resort and Spa, transportation is an extension of the guest experience — not simply a ride from one location to another. The House Car Driver serves as a warm, knowledgeable, and professional ambassador of the resort, providing safe and timely transportation for guests throughout the property and surrounding local areas while delivering exceptional hospitality reflective of Forbes luxury service standards. 

This role is responsible for transporting guests in resort house vehicles, assisting with arrivals and departures as needed, maintaining vehicle presentation and cleanliness, and creating personalized guest interactions that enhance the overall Carneros experience. The ideal candidate is hospitality-driven, safety-conscious, knowledgeable of the Napa Valley area, and comfortable engaging with guests in a polished yet approachable manner. 

Weekend, evening, and holiday availability is required. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Guest Transportation & Service 

  • Safely transport guests throughout the resort property and designated local destinations using resort house vehicles.  
  • Provide prompt and courteous pick-up and drop-off service while maintaining professional and polished guest interactions.  
  • Open vehicle doors, assist guests entering and exiting vehicles, and provide luggage assistance when needed.  
  • Offer knowledgeable recommendations regarding resort amenities, dining, wineries, attractions, and local Napa Valley experiences.  
  • Anticipate guest needs and create personalized moments that elevate the luxury guest experience.  
  • Communicate effectively with Front Office, Bell, Valet, Concierge, and other operational departments regarding transportation requests and guest needs.  
  • Maintain awareness of guest preferences, VIP arrivals, special occasions, and operational updates.  
  • Support arrival and departure experience efforts during high-volume periods as needed.  

Vehicle Operations & Safety 

  • Operate resort vehicles in a safe, professional, and defensive manner at all times.  
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure cleanliness, fuel levels, maintenance readiness, and overall presentation standards are met. 
  • Immediately report any vehicle concerns, maintenance needs, accidents, or safety issues to leadership.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicle interiors and exteriors at all times. 
  • Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, resort driving policies, and safety procedures.  
  • Assist with charging, fueling, staging, and preparing vehicles for daily operations.  

Bell & Front Office Support 

  • Assist with luggage handling and guest assistance when operationally needed.  
  • Support Bell and Front Office teams with guest requests, package deliveries, and resort transportation logistics.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the porte cochère, lobby arrival areas, and transportation staging locations.  
  • Provide professional radio communication and timely updates regarding guest transportation status.  

Qualifications 

  • Previous luxury hospitality, transportation, bell, valet, or guest service experience preferred.  
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
  • Class B license with a passenger transport endorsement.
  • Comfortable operating larger SUVs, vans, or luxury vehicles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a guest-first mindset.
  • Knowledge of Napa Valley, local wineries, restaurants, and attractions preferred. 
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong teamwork and communication.  
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and highly organized.  

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.  
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. 
  • Ability to load and unload guest luggage safely and efficiently. 
  • Ability to safely enter and exit resort vehicles repeatedly throughout the shift.  
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods of time.  

Schedule & Availability Requirements 

  • Must maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business levels require.  
  • Availability to support special events, high occupancy periods, and operational needs is required.  

Work Environment 

This position operates in both indoor and outdoor environments throughout the resort property and surrounding Napa Valley area. The role requires frequent interaction with guests, associates, and leadership in a luxury hospitality setting and requires maintaining Forbes-level service standards and professional presentation at all times.
